Moadra Abilities, Weapons & Upgrades — Verified List

Moadra starter gear, named abilities, Blasters, Boosters, organic chamber upgrades and demo balance notes from verified sources, with no invented stats or locations.

10/23/2026 Last updated: 10/23/2026 7 min read

Verified on 2026-10-23 against Moadra on Steam, Gloomsoft Steam news (demo patch notes), Steam achievements, and Steam community discussions (Neera Archives difficulty).

Moadra’s loop is Protoplasm-powered metamorphosis at organic chambers, layered on a blaster plus Bioplasm-fueled abilities. This page lists only names and rules that appear in those sources—no damage numbers, upgrade costs, or hidden item locations.

Read how Protoplasm and Bioplasm interact in Protoplasm and Bioplasm explained. For scanner-dependent completion stats, see scanner bot and hidden paths. Boss names stay on the all bosses list without fight tips.

What do you start with?

Steam store themes plus consistent Steam user review descriptions agree on a minimal kit:

  • One blaster as your default ranged weapon.
  • One heal ability with limited uses that refills when you rest at organic chambers (save/rest points).

Steam’s long description emphasizes roll, dodge, leap, wall jump, and sprint, mouse free-aim with controller lock-on, and the scanner bot’s X-ray vision—movement and scanning are not inventory items but shape what abilities you can apply in combat. Input bindings for the demo are summarized on controls and keybindings.

Named abilities (achievement-verified)

These ability names appear in Steam achievement text or official demo patch notes. Several achievements test combat tricks rather than ownership, which still confirms the ability exists in the full game.

Name How we know it exists Source note
Protopulse Achievement Resourceful Warrior — defeat at least 20 enemies with a single Protopulse Demo 1.0.1: lower Bioplasm cost; tooltip on discovery
Purify Lifeblood Referenced in demo 1.0.1 patch notes (Bioplasm cost reduction) Heal family; see Heal Lifeblood row below
Heal Lifeblood Demo 1.1.0 patch notes No longer consumes Bioplasm; rechargeable at Evolve Chamber
Caustic Creepers Achievement Feed the Weeds — use Caustic Creepers to defeat other enemies No official numeric stats
Wall Surger Achievement Wall Surgery — use a Wall Surger to defeat other enemies No official numeric stats
Blightwing Achievement Volatile Flight — use a Blightwing to defeat other enemies; demo 1.0.1 lowered Stinger Flie / Blightwing enemy attack speed Distinguish enemy type vs. player ability via achievement wording

Bioplasm acts as an ability resource in player descriptions: it does not regenerate passively; you regain it from Bioplasm charges dropped by enemies or by resting at organic chambers. That pairing appears in Steam user reviews and third-party demo notes (gamehowto.com)—not reprinted here as exact drop rates.

Blasters (collectible weapons)

Source Fact
Steam achievement Master of Blasters Collect all Blasters — global unlock 3.5% on 2026-10-23
Steam achievement Master of Blasters Confirms a Blaster category exists and a full set is required for 100%-style completion

Named on an official screenshot: the Evolve screen in Gloomsoft’s Steam store screenshots labels Alpha Blaster, Gatling Blaster and Spire Blaster, each with three upgrade tracks (for example Speed, Charge, Rate, Length, Damage). Pixel Twelve (2026-10-17) read the same menu. The names are therefore real UI labels; what they do beyond the track names is not documented.

We do not publish a total Blaster count, unlock locations or per-weapon perk values; none appear in Steam achievement text or Gloomsoft news we checked.

Boosters

Source Fact
Steam achievement Boosted! Collect all Boosters — global unlock 0.7% on 2026-10-23
Gloomsoft Steam forum Advises getting boosters (and upgrades) before the Neera Archives boss; other bosses are easier

Boosters are therefore progression items worth tracking for difficulty management, but locations and quantity remain unpublished in our sources.

Protoplasm Gists and inventory progress

Collecting all Protoplasm Gists is the requirement for achievement The Gist of It (0.8% global unlock on 2026-10-23). Perfected asks for 100% Inventory Progress (0.6%). Those metrics are defined only by achievement strings—we link tracking context on collectibles and 100% completion without inventing item totals.

Upgrading and respec at organic chambers

Official and store facts:

  • Enemies yield Protoplasm.
  • Organic chambers let you perform metamorphosis upgrades on weapons and abilities.
  • Steam review summaries (single-source but consistent) add free respec at those chambers.

Demo 1.1.0 also mentions Evolve Chamber recharge for Heal Lifeblood, which aligns with chambers acting as upgrade and refill hubs.

For the economic loop (Protoplasm vs. Bioplasm), use Protoplasm and Bioplasm explained rather than duplicating every sentence here.

Official demo-era balance changes (abilities)

Full-game launch patch notes were not in Steam news on 2026-10-23. Documented demo tweaks that touch abilities:

Demo 1.0.1 (2025-02-21)

  • Lower Bioplasm cost: Purify Lifeblood, Protopulse.
  • Tooltip when discovering Protopulse.
  • Increased invulnerability after taking damage.
  • Target lock selection and feedback improvements.
  • Enemy attack speed down for Stinger Flie and Blightwing (enemy types).

Demo 1.1.0 (2025-04-28)

  • Heal Lifeblood no longer consumes Bioplasm; recharge at Evolve Chamber.
  • Blaster charge bug fix; 1 frame input latency reduction.
  • Aim/lock overhaul (LT stationary free aim, reticle, lock rules).
  • Faster scan on objects; some low-value scannables removed.

If you imported an old demo save, note 1.1.0 broke prior save data—see release date, price, and platforms for demo-to-retail save rules.

What we are not listing yet

  • Numeric damage, cooldowns, Bioplasm costs on retail 1.0 beyond demo note excerpts.
  • Complete Blaster or Booster checklists with counts.
  • Stat values and unlock locations for the Alpha / Gatling / Spire Blasters (the names are on an official screenshot; the numbers are not).
  • Appendage examples from press demos (for example wing-like upgrades in Rock Paper Shotgun’s 2025 preview) unless they appear in achievements or patch notes.

FAQ

What weapons and abilities do you start with in Moadra?
Steam store copy and consistent Steam user reviews describe starting with a single blaster and one heal-style ability with limited uses that restore when you rest at organic chambers. Exact starting counts are not published by Gloomsoft in Steam news—we do not invent numbers.
What is Protopulse in Moadra?
Protopulse is a named ability tied to the Steam achievement Resourceful Warrior: defeat at least twenty enemies with a single Protopulse. Demo patch 1.0.1 lowered its Bioplasm cost and added a discovery tooltip. We list no damage values because none appear in official patch notes.
How do Blasters and Boosters work?
Steam achievements Master of Blasters and Boosted! require collecting all Blasters and all Boosters respectively. Gloomsoft told players on Steam forums that boosters matter before the Neera Archives boss fight. Total counts and map locations are not published in Steam news or achievements as of 2026-10-23.
Where do you upgrade abilities in Moadra?
Official store text and reviews describe killing enemies for Protoplasm, then using organic chambers for metamorphosis upgrades. Steam player summaries add that you can freely respec at those chambers. That matches the protoplasm loop explained on our dedicated guide page.
Did demo patches change healing or Bioplasm costs?
Demo 1.0.1 reduced Bioplasm costs for Purify Lifeblood and Protopulse. Demo 1.1.0 states Heal Lifeblood no longer consumes Bioplasm and can be recharged at an Evolve Chamber. We treat these as the same heal line with naming as it appeared in each patch note.
Are Alpha Blaster and Gatling Blaster real in-game names?
Yes as menu labels: an official Steam store screenshot of the Evolve screen shows Alpha Blaster, Gatling Blaster and Spire Blaster tracks next to Purify Lifeblood, Protopulse and Protocannon, and Pixel Twelve read the same menu in October 2026. Stat values and where each Blaster is found are not published, so we list none.
